COLLIDE Festival
COLLIDE Festival highlights experimental art across artistic disciplines. The festival brings interdisciplinary and boundary-pushing work into a space that encourages artists to “collide” and show experiments in process. We support artists to test new ideas and continue their artistic process in the setting of a performance space. Join us over two nights and an afternoon, Nov 29-Dec 1 2024 at the Russian Hall! DAY 1 - Doors at 5:30pm: MAMM Workshop / UnderCurrents Exhibition Opening / Paige Louter / Lisa Butel, Brent Cross, Jay Hirabayashi / giominz / Possibilities: Yin Guo DAY 2 - Doors at 6:30pm: Odd Meridian Arts / Constantine Katsiris / Noxious Light (Graham Christofferson, Candelario Andrade) / Echoradia / SlowPitchSound DAY 3 - Doors at 11:30am: Pancake Noise Breakfast + Merch Swap / Crow Moon (Heather McDermid, Dan Kibke) ALL 3 DAYS: Artworks / installations by Kaila Bhullar, and Paul Wong, Whess Harman, Anju Singh, Roxanne Nesbitt as part of the UnderCurrents project No one turned away due to lack of funds - get in touch if you need a more affordable option ([email protected]). The Russian Hall is accessible to patrons using mobility devices such as wheelchairs and scooters. There is an entry ramp at the front of the building and an elevator to make use of the lower-level bathrooms. |

Morag, You're A Long Time Deid
By Claire Love Wilson & Peter Lorenz
June 9 -19, 2022
The Russian Hall
Morag’s death left a silence in her place. When her grand-daughter Sam inherits her piano, she also inherits the mystery of Morag’s story. An intimate letter composed of fragmented Scottish ballads leads Sam to uncover Morag’s possible queerness. In piecing together Morag’s history through their shared Scottish musical heritage, Sam discovers a voice of her own.
This new experimental musical warps, disrupts, and reconfigures traditional Scottish storytelling, ballad singing and participatory community dance. Reimagining ceilidh theatre from a queer perspective, original compositions are playfully interwoven with electronic loops and interactive dancing to tell old stories anew.
